House Manager (Los Angeles, CA)

Our client is looking for a true House Manager that will work hands-on, in-person, from the client’s home.  This position will have equal responsibilities maintaining client standards of the personal soft touch items, as well as the physical property of the primary residence and secondary property nearby.  This is not an entry level position, and we are looking for someone with seasoned experience that thrives working on a team in a fast paced and ever-changing environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, takes direction well, and will look forward to growing with the position as it evolves.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Day-to-day management of housekeepers and their tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Oversee routine vendors at two residences
  • Work closely with personal assistants and office staff for various items as needed
  • Maintain organization of staff office, on site storage and client spaces
  • Share responsibility as a first responder on all equipment, appliances and alarm systems
  • Order groceries and restocking various refrigerators, check quality and expiration dates on all food and beverages
  • Daily walk through the interior and exterior, ensuring client standards are maintained
  • Complete daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance checklists and reporting as needed
  • Understand, use, and monitor all systems of a newly built, highly technical home
  • Demonstrate a hands-on and proactive management approach
  • Keep aware of client and staff routines and schedules
  • Manage and document small vendor projects
  • Update staff meeting notes as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
This is a full-time position:
  • Depending on whether the clients are in town or if there is a large project being worked on, the hours can change
  • Sometimes it will feel like the standard 9 a-5 p and other times you will be expected to arrive early or stay late or both
  • Be available for occasional weekends, evenings or social events
  • The first three months of employment will be treated as a trial for the candidate and the employer to determine if it’s the right fit
  • Competitive salary depending on experience plus a generous benefits package. Also eligible for a discretionary bonus
Required skills:
  • 3-5 years’ experience in similar positions
  • Product knowledge and cleaning techniques for high end finishes both interior and exterior
  • Working knowledge of Savant home automation, smart home systems
  • Tech savvy and fluent in Mac OS, Google Suite / Calendar / Drive / Sheets / Docs and mobile technologies
  • Trustworthy and discreet
  • Professional and personable with excellent people/verbal communication skills
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
  • A clear understanding of industry anonymity and how to implement discretion in all settings
  • Experience in working on a team and managing people with diverse skill sets
  • Comfortable around physical, residential, and cyber security platforms
  • Local area knowledge
  • Primary residence and work location within a reasonable driving distance of Los Angeles’s metro area
  • Great judgment and intuition
  • Experience in prioritizing and multitasking a continuous workload
  • Excellent time management, delegation skills and is well-organized
  • A motivated self-starter with a “no task is too big or small” attitude and can own their workload from the start
  • A problem solver both creatively and logically.
  • Ability to take on new tasks in stride
  • Fluent in English
  • Conversational Spanish is a bonus
  • Experience in general construction is a bonus
  • Able to work irregular or extended hours to get the job done
  • Physically fit; able to regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands/manual dexterity
  • Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
  • Has U.S. work authorization
