Head Butler (Scottsdale, AZ)

We are seeking an experienced well-rounded Head Butler to drive the development and infrastructure of food & beverage and hospitality service for a private family’s expanding residential portfolio, including properties in Arizona, Hawaii, and Montana. Based in Scottsdale, this role will oversee all aspects of the organization’s food and beverage planning and service planning as well as coordination and curation of all private events and dining experiences. The Head Butler serves as the point person and liaison for the Principals in support of the family’s event planning, logistics, and hospitality services. This role will implement onboarding procedures, hire, supervise, mentor staff, and establish operational protocols and standards to deliver exceptional service to the Principals and their guests. The ideal candidate will possess the vision, facilitation, and management skills to build an exceptional food beverage and hospitality operation.
 
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Serve as the Principal’s primary point of contact for operational concerns. Take a lead role in assuring that the highest level of service is delivered consistently to the Principals and their guests.
  • Administer all elements of hospitality, food, and beverage service within the residence on a daily basis
  • Hands on service in all elements of hospitality, in conjunction with additional members of the household staff
  • Formal and informal dinner and drink service. Talented mixologist.
  • Implement and oversee organizational standards and systems
  • Develop and oversee the hiring, training, and retention strategies and standardize procedure manuals
  • Implement and monitor budgeting processes, and direct quality and assurance standards
  • Mentor and provide resources to staff/vendors and encourage ongoing professional development, including developing formal ongoing education and skills enhancement roadmaps
  • Liaise with the culinary and F&B team
  • Closet & Wardrobe Management including oversight of donations, consignment, inventory, and reporting
  • Oversee Support travel in its many facets and capacities
  • Research and provide information  on travel destinations, local features
  • Provide formal and informal detailed status reports with visuals
  • Light general housekeeping when needed
  • Maintain household calendars, scheduling household services and providing prior notification to principals
This is a Full-Time, Live-Out Position:
  • Based at the primary residence in Scottsdale, AZ
  • Occasional out-of-town travel required
  • Hours for this position may vary depending on scheduling needs and may include some evenings, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications:
  • At least seven years of management experience as a service industry professional in food and beverage, luxury hotels/resorts, private clubs, upscale restaurants, or private residential service
  • Exceptional knowledge of food plating, table décor/setting, accessories, service protocol, and professional presentation for formal service
  • Experience handling multiple priorities skillfully, confidently, and professionally while delivering exceptional service
  • Strong relationship and communication skills to effectively partner with Principals, household staff, vendors, and other external contacts
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, smartphone, text savvy, messaging apps, and electronic means  of communication
  • Must have demonstratable experience supporting complex travel, hospitality, event, and entertaining
  • Must have a US Passport and the flexibility to travel nationally and internationally as required. Travel is approximately 25% of the time
  • Must obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s license and possess a clean driving record
